Clubs and Service Groups

TAG offers a wide variety of academic competitions and other clubs and organizations that provide lots of opportunities for students to get involved, to learn new or improve existing skills, and to meet new people and make new friends!

**American Sign Language (ASL) Club (DISD Google Classroom - xqni5z4): Here you will practice the basics of American Sign Language, play games to master your ASL skills, and learn more about the role of ASL in our society through videos and volunteering. (Mr. Mancini) 

Asian Pacific Islander Student Union (APISU): Our group fosters connection between Asian students at TAG through social events, community service, and monthly meetings. Club members share their cultures with one another and participate in fun games and activities to promote affinity and a sense of belonging. With the pillars of community, connection, and culture, TAG APISU seeks to create a safe and diverse environment for all students at TAG. @tag.apisu (Ms. Yan)

BioChem Club (tsbpdvt): A science club for students who are interested in studying more in-depth content for Biology and Chemistry. Students also prepare for national competitions such as Biology Olympiad and Chemistry Olympiad. This club also provides tutoring services for students enrolled in Biology and Chemistry courses at TAG. (Ms. Dewberry)

**Black Student Union (uxxik55): Townview BSU works to inform students of local, national, and global affairs occurring within the African diaspora, to provide a safe space for black students and their allies to speak about their thoughts and feelings regarding current race relations, to hold activities and discussions to create better racial dialogue and understanding among Townview students, and to create events and fundraisers for organizations in the Dallas metroplex that work toward racial equity. @townviewbsu (Ms. Adams)

Cancer Kids First (t44youd): aims to make lives of pediatric cancer patients better. Through fundraising and donations, we support every patient with love and kindness. We meet every Tuesday and give out volunteer hours! (Mr. Phillips)

Chess Team (g7n5hne): Explore the intricacies of chess by playing with others and learning new tactics and maneuvers to improve your skills. You'll test your knowledge of the game by competing in numerous tournaments. (Ms. Adams)

Computer Science Club (lpqno7v): is dedicated to fostering a non-competitive environment to educate students about the vast opportunities within computer science. By presenting different activities, workshops, and resources, students across varying skill levels can delve into the tech topics they care about. (Mr. Cadle)

Dungeons & Dragons Club: is for students interested in playing tabletop role-playing games. We like the creative experience of collaboratively telling stories, building worlds, having in-depth moral and philosophical discussions, teaching new people to play RPGs, and of course, having a bunch of fun together. (Mr. Yazvac)

**Executive Student Board: Executive Student Board (ESB) is a collective of highly ambitious, eager student representatives from each of the respective Townview Magnet Center schools. Duties include weekly meetings, representative work, volunteer work, and consistent involvement with all six schools and outside entities. (Mrs. Kossie)

Fantasy Sports Club: Are you interested in sports? Join Fantasy Sports Club where you can compete in ESPN Fantasy Leagues with other TAG students! This fall, we will be running a fantasy football league, so follow us on Instagram (@tagfantasysports) or join our Remind (4h6276) to get involved in some low-stakes competition fun! (Mr. Correa)

**Fiber Arts Club: Members gather to learn different ways to tangle yarn into beautiful creations and learn the history of yarn crafts. We strive to give students an escape from the stress of schoolwork and meditate on the amazingness that is creating something with your own hands. (Ms. Ellis)

Finance and Investing Club: The Wharton Global High School Investment Competition is a free, online investment simulation for high school students (grades 9-12th) and teachers. Students work in teams of four to seven, guided by a teacher as their advisor. Together, they learn about teamwork, communication, risk, diversification, company and industry analysis, and many other important aspects of investing.

**Girls In STEM Club: GIS is a Townview inclusive club dedicated to empowering girls interested in the STEM field and closing the STEM gender gap. By offering more opportunities (internships, programs, volunteering) and offering fun learning experiences for the underrepresented, GIS hopes to motivate girls and make a new, safe community for people with the same interests. The Griffin Gazette (tyijvau): A student-led newspaper that serves as TAG's hub for all things current events, breaking news, reviews, and more. Backed by a talented team of writers, artists, and editors, The Griffin Gazette serves as a platform for a variety of opinions and perspectives and aims to amplify the voices of passionate TAG students. Horror Club: meets after school every other Thursday to watch horror movies and generally appreciate the genre. A parent permission slip is required. (Ms. Wells)

HOSA: is a global student-led organization recognized by the Departments of Education and Health and Human Services and several federal and state agencies. HOSA’s mission is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community, through education, collaboration, and experience. (Mr. Almaguer)

Inklings: TAG's student-run magazine is built on the artistic and literary talents of the student body. It provides a platform for individuals to express themselves and share their passions with the people around them. (Ms. Wells)

Journaling Club (yoju6f5): If you like to organize your thoughts, plan for your future or think and write about things that are important to you, the Journaling Club is for you. Meetings are every Monday in room 304. (Mrs. Elizondo)  

**Junior World Affairs Council: For more than a decade, our Junior World Affairs Councils (JWACs) have been a global triumph on local campuses. Our JWAC program has been linking students to the world since 2004. With more than 70 chapters in North Texas, JWAC is a great way for high school students to learn about international issues and become more globally aware. @jwac_townview (Ms. Hippensteel)

**League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC Youth): A non-profit organization that gives youth a voice and to mold them into the future leaders of our next generation. LULAC hosts pre-conventions, state/national conventions, plus leadership seminars open to all. (Mrs. Elizondo)

Link Crew: Link Crew is a North American student leadership program. Its focus is on making select individuals from the Junior and Senior classes, known as "Link Leaders," into mentors for freshmen. (Mr. De Leon)

Makerspace: A makerspace is a collaborative workspace inside a school, library or separate public/private facility for making, learning, exploring and sharing that uses high tech to no tech tools. (Ms. Adams)

MHA (Mental Health Advocacy Club): works to promote resources and information about maintaining a healthy mental health state. Its primary goals are to spread awareness through social media and web resources that can be accessed by all TAG students. (Mrs. Smith)

National Honor Society: NHS enhances a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service. (Mr. Correa)

Origami Club (t52mcri): We teach the art of origami by meeting once a week during lunch to make a work of art. Sometimes, we host themed meetings, such as character day or animal day. If you like having fun while creating something new, this is the club for you. (Mr. Almaguer) 

PERIOD: A youth-fueled nonprofit that strives to eradicate period poverty and stigma through service, education, and advocacy. Through menstrual product distribution, promoting youth leadership, and championing menstrual equity in policy, PERIOD aims to center those disproportionately affected by period poverty and support local efforts for menstrual equity. (Ms. Morrison)

SEEDS Volunteer Club: TAG takes pride in developing students who consider how they can contribute back to society. For this reason, volunteer hours are a part of the graduation curriculum. This club provides opportunities for students to be united to share, transform, educate, and rescue. (Ms. Adams)

**Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica: The SHH is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). Our mission is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish and to promote interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies. (Mr. Ramos, Ms. Moreno)

Student Recruitment Team: is a group of students hand-picked to represent TAG at open houses, info sessions, application days, school visits, and other events involved in the recruitment and onboarding of incoming TAG students. (Ms. Wells / Mr. De Leon)  

TAG Speaks: We are a club focusing on bringing comfort to public speaking. At every meeting, students can choose to speak or not speak on the selected theme for that day. Past themes include pet peeves, New Year's Resolutions, unpopular opinions, and more. Every meeting is super fun and very relaxed with no judgment, and you can follow @tag.speaks on Instagram for more information including pictures of our meetings and meeting dates! (Ms. Greer)

**Townview Film Club (7rxehhn): Townview Film Club is a group of students from any of the six Townview schools who are interested in filmmaking. Last year we completed an animated film that we submitted to the UIL Filmmaking Festival, and we are currently creating a film that we plan on submitting to a film festival in the Spring. (Ms. Weber)

**TMC Fitness: TMC Fitness is a student-led organization that aims to help students from all Townview schools learn and foster a positive social community centered on fitness. You can follow @tmcfitnessclub for more information, meeting dates, and activities! (Ms. Adams)

**TMC Jewelry Club: Come join us for TMC Jewelry Club on Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30 in room 304 to make jewelry and have fun! We will provide jewelry making supplies but feel free to bring your own too! Our club is a time to relieve stress, have fun creating, and socialize with friends. Follow us @tmc.jewelryclub for updates! All schools are welcome so hurry up and stop by! (Mrs. Elizondo)

**TMC Student Organization for South Asians: SOSA is a student-led organization that strives to create a safe space where South Asian students and students curious about South Asian culture can come together and appreciate its beauty and history. We focus on cultural celebration and education as we participate in volunteer opportunities, discussions, religious and cultural holidays, and other activities! @tmc.sosa (Ms. Hippensteel)

Volleyball Club: The goal is to play recreationally in the Townview gym before or after school, depending on the availability of the membership. (Mr. De Leon)    

Yearbook Club: The TAG Yearbook Club is responsible for creating TAGBOOK, TAG’s yearbook. Members take photographs of life at TAG over the course of a school year and are responsible for designing the yearbook. (Ms. Greer)
