Admissions

Thank you for your interest in the School for the Talented and Gifted at Townview (TAG). TAG enrolls about 550 students total in grades 9-12 and shares a building called Townview with five other magnet high schools. TAG is located just south of downtown Dallas off I-35E at Eighth Street. We are currently the #1 high school in Texas (#8 in the nation) in the US News and World Report Rankings. TAG was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2022, one of 31 schools in Texas out of 297 nationwide to receive this prestigious recognition.

It is too late to apply to TAG for next year: applications closed for the 2024-2025 school year on January 31, 2024.

School board policy says that students who move to Dallas in the summer of 2024 are not eligible to apply to TAG for the 24-25 school year.

The application period for next school year (2024-2025) ran from November 1, 2023, to January 31, 2024. TAG will took applications for an incoming 9th grade class of about 135 students.  In addition, current 9th graders could apply for a very limited number of seats in next year’s 10th grade class.  TAG does not admit new 11th or 12th graders.

As a Dallas ISD public school, residents within DISD are given priority in the application process. (You may check to see if you are an in-district resident by typing your address into DISD’s School Finder site here.)  Once all qualified in-district applicants have been admitted, out-of-district students may be considered.  No out-of-district students were admitted for the past two years.  Planning to move to Dallas in the future does not enable a student to apply as an in-district student.  Students must currently live within the boundaries of DISD when they apply in order to be considered in-district.  Temporary or secondary addresses do not count.

Information on TAG admission can be found at tiny.cc/TAGApply. After reading this site, if you have further questions, you may email admissions@tagmagnet.org.  Each year, we offer info sessions in November, December, and January.  School tours are available on selected Tuesdays in September and October.
